If you recently started or haven’t even started selling on Amazon, you may have noticed some categories of products are not allowed to be sold on Amazon unless you have approval. We call this process of getting approved “un-gating”, meaning opening the gates on this category so that you can sell products of that specific category on Amazon.

Many of you new and seasoned sellers have reached out to ask how they can start selling supplements on the platform.
This category is very saturated, and hard to break into but, boy once you break into it offers very generous opportunities for retail arbitrage, private label, and wholesale sellers alike. Over the years, I’ve successfully sold supplements on Amazon, generating significant profits.

Having sold on Amazon for a long time, my account has very few category restrictions. However, new sellers like yourself are initially restricted from selling supplements through Amazon FBA.

Now there are just a few requirements that you need to meet in order to get approval to sell in this Amazon subcategory. So let’s go over these requirements and help you get approved.

Amazon Seller Account Requirements For Gated Category Approval

  • You must have a professional seller account – the one that costs $49.99 a month.
  • Your account must be in good standing – you can’t have a lot of late deliveries or canceled orders.

  2. Product Photos: Submit photos of the product you’re applying with, ensuring they meet these guidelines:
    • Contain the name of the manufacturer.
    • Include the product, trademark, or model number.
    • Are live photos, not stock images.
    • Clearly display all sides of the product or its packaging.
    Take photos of all six sides of the product’s packaging: front, back, right side, left side, top, and bottom. If any information is hard to see, include a close-up.
  3. Additional Documentation: Provide one of the following documents:
    • FDA Registration Screenshot.
    • GMP Certificate (Good Manufacturing Practice).
    • COA (Certificate of Analysis).
    • 510(K) Premarket Notification.
