Want to learn how to get approved to sell Nike on Amazon?
Last night when I tucked My son in bed, he looked at me and asked, “Dad, why do you have so many Nike shoes if you never wear them?”
I laughed because it really was a good question. To him, it probably looked like I was secretly stocking up sneakers for myself. I explained, “I don’t wear them because I’m actually selling them online.”
He paused, then asked, genuinely curious, “Do you own Nike?”
I smiled and said, “Nope! I just buy the shoes at the outlets for less money, then resell them on Amazon for a profit.”
As I explained this simple process to my son, I realized how much things have changed. Back when I first started retail arbitrage in 2014, selling Nike shoes on Amazon was easy. I remember nervously scanning shoes in the outlets, feeling a rush every time a profitable pair showed up. Nike was a fantastic brand to start with—popular, reliable, and incredibly profitable.
But as Amazon started to add more and more brand restrictions, selling Nike became challenging, especially for beginners. Today, getting ungated to sell Nike feels almost impossible for many sellers.
If you’re reading this, you’ve probably felt that frustration firsthand. You want to know how you can finally break through those barriers and start selling Nike products again.
And that’s exactly why I’m here. In this guide, I’ll share everything you need to get ungated and approved, so you can confidently start selling Nike shoes, clothing, socks, and athletic gear on Amazon once again.
Ready? Let’s dive in.
How To Know If You Are Restricted From Selling Nike On Amazon?
Luckily, it’s pretty straightforward to check if Amazon has restricted you from selling Nike products. You’ll want to confirm your status first—this way, you’ll know exactly where you stand and what steps you need to take next.
Once you know for sure that you’re restricted from selling Nike, you can then focus your efforts on getting approval to unlock this popular brand.
Here are two quick ways to check if you’re currently gated or blocked from selling Nike on Amazon (and these methods will also work for any other brand or product category you’re curious about):
Check Nike Restrictions Using The Amazon Seller App
The first method to quickly check if you’re restricted from selling Nike is by using the Amazon Seller App. It’s fast and easy:
- Open your Amazon Seller App on your phone.
- Search for a Nike-branded product directly within the app, or scan a Nike product’s barcode.
- For example, try entering this ASIN into your app: B0CD3YR19S (these are Nike shoes).
If you’re restricted, the app will clearly display a notice saying something like “Requires Approval” or “Restricted”. This means you can’t currently list Nike products, and you’ll need to get ungated before selling them.
On the other hand, if you don’t see any restriction messages, congratulations—you’re already approved to sell Nike products!
looking at the listing above when you search on the phone app, on the main search results page, you’ll notice a restriction on the main image indicated by the “Requires Approval” you can also see the section where it says “Selling Eligibility” with the yellow exclamation sign.
when you click List product it will take you to another page where it says this product is on the restricted category and you may not be able to list it. Previously they would allow you to request approval on the phone app but not anymore. instead. you would have to go to the seller central and request approval on the desktop.
This step is essential to confirm that the restriction specifically relates to the Nike brand, as Amazon has numerous brand and category restrictions. Ensuring you’re preparing to ungate the correct brand or category saves you time and effort.
If you encounter the notification shown below, it means you’re ready to start the approval process for selling Nike products on Amazon.
Check Brand Restrictions Using Seller central
